Zero accidents at Algol Chemicals
Algol Chemicals succeeded in meeting its target of zero accidents in 2016. What concrete measures were taken to achieve this result?
“Regular safety inspections and operational audits were carried out within our units with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and promoting safety thinking. New recruits always receive comprehensive orientation in safe working methods, and all employees have modern electronic tools for reporting deviations and safety observations. In addition, we organise safety training for specific tasks whenever there are changes in our operations, for example when we introduce new products, equipment, software or operating procedures. We also organise major emergency and rescue exercises at our plants that handle chemicals,” says Päivi Autiovuori, HSEQ Team Leader at Algol Chemicals.
