Algol Chemicals centralises storage operations in Finland
Algol Chemicals is currently finalising its project to centralise the company´s storage operations in two locations within Finland: Espoo and Turku. Warehousing operations for packed goods will transfer entirely to the central warehouse in Espoo, while all bulk chemicals handling and packing operations will be carried out at the storage tank area at the Port of Turku´s Western Quay. Local services for Finnish customers will be enhanced through new logistics solutions. The new arrangements will be fully implemented at the start of next year.
According to Teemu Neittamo, Sales Director for Finland, the new arrangements will streamline operations and eliminate redundancies. Accordingly, they also represent a cost-effective solution.
As part of the new arrangements, Algol Chemicals will close its sales office and local warehouse in Tampere, and the products currently there will be transferred to the central warehousing facilities in Espoo. Sales personnel will work at Algol´s Headquarters in Espoo.
Algol Chemicals´s storage tank area at the Port of Turku´s Western Quay has been fully modernised and expanded. New office facilities at the port have also just been completed and will house the company´s Turku sales office. When the packed goods that have been stored in the neighbouring area are moved to the central warehouse in Espoo, the address for all Algol Chemicals´operations in Turku will be one and the same: Länsilaituri (Western Quay).
As part of its new storage arrangements, Algol Chemicals is focusing on ensuring local services for its customers. The company will introduce regular transports from its warehouses in Espoo and Turku to Tampere and Jyväskylä. The new scheduled deliveries will be supported by individual transports and a new terminal that the company´s transportation partner is establishing in Tampere in order to continue local services for customers.
