Algol System Demag technology equips Starckjohann Steel´s warehouse

Materials Handling Division is applying its Algol System Demag warehousing
technology to the new steel service centre that Starckjohann Steel will build
in Lotila, in the city of Lahti. The division will deliver to both the plate
product and the steel bar warehouses an automatic high-bay stacker and
auxiliary equipment. The entity was designed considering the special nature of
the products: the system is designed to handle large amounts of heavy products
without damaging the material´s delicate surface. The high-bay warehouse has a
total area of a couple of thousand square metres, its height is 12 metres, and
it holds up to 4.5 tons and 2 x 3.0 tons.

The experience of Algol´s Materials Handling Division as a supplier of high-bay
warehousing technology dates back to the 1970´ies. Also the very first high-bay
stacker in Finland was installed by Algol.
