Norwegian researchers improve tchnology for studying the brain

NordicNeuroLab AS has developed products to simplify the complex operations
required by functional imaging (fMRI). The company´s product line features a
seamlessly integrated set of software and hardware components that may also be
used separately. The solutions have proven to be cost effective. Algol Pharma
is responsible for distribution of these products in the Nordic and Baltic
countries.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a scanning technology widely used in
hospitals today to provide three-dimensional anatomical information about
patients. Functional magnetic resonance imaging allows functional information
about brain activity to be monitored. Until recently this form of research was
used primarily in scientific studies to determine the functioning of healthy
and damaged brain mechanisms. More recently, the technology has been used to
diagnose various diseases related to the central nervous system and to
effectively monitor their treatment. Examples of these applications include
Parkinson´s disease, ADHD, Alzheimer´s disease, schizophrenia and brain tumours.

NordicNeuroLab was established in October 2001 to market the results of a
cross-scientific research team from the University of Bergen and the Haukeland
University Hospital. The breakthrough was made in 2004, and the lauch of the
company´s products in international markets was a success. The company started
with just a single employee but today already has 11 staff members. The
company´s products are currently sold in ten countries on three continents.

The goal of NordicNeuroLab AS is to be the leading international supplier of
fMRI solutions. The company has established a global sales and distribution
network. NordicNeuroLab has signed a distribution agreement with Algol Pharma
Oy, which will market and sell NordicNeuroLab products in the Nordic and Baltic
countries.
