Algol Technics and VTT look to the future at Visio 2008

Specialist know-how and division of duties, partnerships and networking emerged
as the central themes at Visio 2008. This special theme day was arranged by
Algol Technics together with VTT, the Technical Research Centre of Finland. The
event was held for Algol Technics employees. Representatives of various
industrial branches also participated in the theme day.

The Visio 2008 theme day offered a broad look at the prospects for industry and
future technological developments. The guest speakers covered a range of
topics, from the technology industry to the chemical industry, construction to
energy, and the forest industry to food production and the pharmaceuticals
industry. The main challenges were identified as globalisation, increasing
demands for production efficiency, and the growing emphasis on environmental
issues.

Networking was seen increasingly in the formation within markets of chains of
co-operation, in which a division of duties is created among component
suppliers, system suppliers and turnkey suppliers. According to Managing
Director Simo Uusitalo, Algol Technics is increasingly heading in a direction
where it will be able to offer branch-specific service packages that could even
be connected to the customer´s own R&D operations. This involves planning that
support process efficiency, the technical solution, and the maintenance
required to optimise the product´s lifespan.
